TopMeteo x WeGlide | Streamline Your Task Planning

Declare tasks planned in TopMeteo and export them to WeGlide? Now it's possible. Stefan Goretzki from the TopMeteo team explains how this can be useful before your flight.
TopMeteo x WeGlide | Streamline Your Task Planning

Hey Stefan. Can you explain in a bit more detail what this is all about?

WeGlide's APIs offer excellent opportunities to connect the platform with our products. Especially when it comes to task planning and declarations, WeGlide is increasingly becoming the central hub for the world of gliding. So, it was only a matter of time before we took this step.

For a long time, it has been possible to plan tasks using our forecast maps. But from now on, as a TopMeteo user, you can also do the following with a task:

  • Create it in the forecast maps
  • Declare it directly within TopMeteo (e.g., for your national decentral comp)
  • Export it to your own WeGlide profile or cockpit.

How do I connect my accounts?

It's quite simple. You just need to establish a one-time link between WeGlide and TopMeteo. Once this link is active, new tasks can be exported from TopMeteo to WeGlide and, of course, be declared as often as you like.

Linking the two accounts works as follows:

First, go to your TopMeteo profile and click "Connect WeGlide." You will then be redirected to the login screen, as seen in the second screenshot. Here, you just need to enter your WeGlide login credentials and click "Allow," and the connection is set.

How do I use the integration?

You create your task as usual in the TopMeteo task planner with the help of our forecast maps. When you're done planning, you can download the task (middle screenshot). The download dialog will appear. Here, you can now select WeGlide. And the best part: you can declare the task right away!

A flying day is just around the corner. How do you use this new feature?

I personally fly with an LX9070 (which is LXNAV Connect capable). Shortly before takeoff, I can check the latest weather or satellite images and re-declare in a flash. The real kicker: as long as the LX device is linked to WeGlide via LXNAV Connect, the new task from TopMeteo is automatically adopted by the LX.

Adjust task in TopMeteo > Export to WeGlide > Declare > Done.

This makes handling and “declaring” your task just before takeoff significantly easier. Without any further action, the new declared task lands on the LX device in seconds. A cross-check in the WeGlide app is possible at any time.

Note: Even if your navigation device doesn't support WeGlide's task synchronization, you can still download the new task from TopMeteo as a .cup or similar file and transfer it to your device. It just takes a little longer.

What's next for TopMeteo?

We are already working on an import function for personal waypoints into our flight planner. This will make planning even more convenient and individual. The mobile flight planner is also currently being redesigned for better usability on smartphones.

Thanks for your time, Stefan.
