Guy Bechtold Challenge | Collect 5 Badges and Win!
The badges are much more than just colorful little pictures. For a long time now, they have reflected flying performance, a spirit of adventure, and the sheer diversity of our beautiful sport. With the support of Guy Bechtold, we are launching a new challenge for juniors with attractive prizes!
The Prizes:🥇 1000 € 🥈 600 € 🥉 300 €

The Ruleset is Simple
Any Junior (U25) can participate. The scoring period begins on March 5th and ends on September 30th, 2026. Whoever collects all 5 badges the fastest within this timeframe wins. The order badges are collected does not matter. Multiple badges can be collected in one flight.
There is no registration for the Callenge. Just upload your flights to WeGlide according to the valid rules. Flights in a two-seater are permitted, provided both pilots are juniors. However, only the PIC receives the badge. In case of a showdown where two or more pilots receive the final badge on the same day, the pilot with the earliest flight upload wins.
We want to particularly emphasize that the Guy Challenge is aimed at juniors all over the world: Everyone can participate and win!
Transparent and simple rules, the existing badge system, and great prizes make the Guy Bechtold Challenge unique. These 5 new, exciting badges await you:

Centrifuge
Here, technique is what counts. For over 1000 meters of altitude gain in a single thermal, you need a bank angle of at least 45°.
Platzgeier
Persistence and endurance pay off. Anyone can circle near the airfield, but with these limits, it now becomes a real challenge: You must not fly more than 5 km away from the airfield and you must remain in the air for at least 5 hours.

Efficiency
No detours allowed! Declare a task and cover a maximum of 5% more free distance than the length of the task. Example: For a 500 km triangle, a maximum of 525 km of free distance (free scoring) may appear on the final score.
Old But Gold
The name says it all. Fly a declared triangle of over 300 kilometers. The only catch: Your glider must belong to the Vintage category.

Matterhorn
The 4487-meter-high mountain is well known to every glider pilot. This badge is about climbing at least 4487 meters within one hour. Only circling flight is permitted for the altitude gain, but you may use as many thermals as you like. Example: With a 75% thermalling ratio over one hour, you need an average climb rate of ~ 1.7 m/s.
Well, the Guy Bechtold Challenge is for Juniors only. Nevertheless, the new badges can be collected by any pilot on WeGlide. You find them in your profile and they are ready to get hunted.
