Ready for the season with Copilot

As a loyal companion for satellite images and live information during your flight, you are well-equipped for the 2025 season with Copilot. The WeGlide team has some exciting new features for you that will make the app even more useful.
Satellite imagery update
The biggest innovation is the significantly higher-resolution weather satellite for Europe and Africa, which has been operational since this winter. The improved images are available immediately for all subscriptions 🎉. America and Australia was already well covered. See the difference for yourself.

The trained eye has noticed it: The time slider has also received a visual update and is now easier to use.
Navigate to thermals
Every thermal you circle in is displayed in Copilot—as a green circle while climbing and in gray for 10 minutes after exiting. The size of the circle indicates the climb rate. Tapping it provides more details, such as the altitude range.
New: You can now navigate directly to a thermal! To cancel navigation, simply tap the green info box and confirm.

The detail and navigation function is also available for airfields. If you ever find yourself alone in the air with no thermals in sight, the hotspot maps calculated from 10 million thermals will help you out.
Aircraft marking and Airspaces
Flying with friends or want to see what certain people are up to? Tap the corresponding aircraft on the map and mark them to find them more easily.
Airspaces can also be tapped for detailed information such as name, frequency, type, shape, and altitude range. To ensure this works well in flight, the details for all relevant airspaces at your selected position are displayed.

Tasks
When flying tasks or competing in contests, it’s helpful to know the conditions at the turnpoint or along the route. Now, in Copilot, you can view tasks from WeGlide—or even declare them directly! Just go to the settings and search for a task. Nuno is already working on making this feature even more useful 🤫.

Our recommendations
Get the app, buy a power bank and take off. iPhones tend to dim the screen when they get too warm—an Android device or a cool spot can help. Also, the fuselage can block antennas, so it's best to place your device in the canopy.
We wish you a successful 2025 season and always safe landings.
