Der Mai bot grandiose Flüge und wurde am letzten Wochenende von einem neuen Rekord an Meldungen auf WeGlide gekrönt, darunter 40 Flüge über 1000 km. Aber auch der Juni brachte einige tolle Fluggeschichten hervor. Das WeGlide Team war ebenfalls beschäftigt und freut sich neben einigen schon sichtbaren neuen Features heute WeGlide Live vorstellen zu können.
Live Tracking
Anderen bereits bei der Landung zum persönlichen Rekord gratulieren oder einfach nur mit den Vereinskameraden tagsüber mitfiebern? Wir haben das bisher vermisst und deswegen gibt es jetzt WeGlide Live.
Daten aus dem Open Glider Network werden visualisiert und von WeGlide um Informationen wie Startflugplatz und Bodenhöhe ergänzt.
Für alle Flüge werden kontinuierlich die bereits geflogenen Kilometer berechnet. Zusammen mit der Flugspur und dem Barogram stehen damit die gleichen Informationen wie für hochgeladene Flüge bereit. Dank der Echtzeitauswertung und umfangreicher Suche ist das Entdecken von potentiell außergewöhnlichen Flügen noch in der Luft möglich.
Wer möchte hinterlegt sein Flugzeug im WeGlide Profil und erlaubt interessierten Beobachterinnen so, auch Name und Verein im Tracking zu sehen. Zudem kann der Fortschritt auf der online-deklarierten Aufgabe verfolgt werden.
Wenn ihr bereits eine igc-Datei hochgeladen habt, in der die Flarm-ID eures Flugzeugs steht, so könnt ihr euer Flugzeug dauerhaft verlinken - ansonsten für einen Zeitraum von bis zu drei Tagen.
Beim Klick auf einen nahegelegenen Flugplatz wird dieser in die Navigation geladen. Um Navigationsentscheidungen der Pilot*innen nachvollziehen zu können legen wird für die ersten paar Wochen als kleines Sahnehäubchen das Live-Satellitenbild als Kartenoption dazu.
Selbstverständlich hast du volle Kontrolle über deine Daten und ob du oder deine Aufgabe im Live-Tracking angezeigt werden. Es erscheinen nur Flugzeuge aus der OGN Geräte Datenbank, die dort explizit dem Tracking zugestimmt haben. Wir haben in unseren Docs genau beschrieben, was du tun musst, wenn du diese Einstellungen ändern möchtest und auch einige FAQs beantwortet.
WeGlide Live ist nur möglich, da wir auf der vorrausgegangen Arbeit von anderen aufbauen konnten. Die Daten des OGN Projekts sind für jeden frei verfügbar und erreichen weltweit eine beachtliche Abdeckung. Um das OGN zu zitieren:

Grundlage der Live-Software ist der OGN-Gateway von Tobias Bieniek, der auch SkyLines entwickelt hat. Der Source-Code ist dankenswerterweise frei verfügbar und sammelt und speichert Daten aus dem OGN. Diesen konnten wir um Aspekte wie Strecken-Auswertung, User Interface, Live-Connect und Höhendaten ergänzen.
In alle Funktionen unter dem neuen Menüpunkt "Live" ist das Feedback der Community eingeflossen und wie immer freuen wir uns auch diesmal über deine Anregungen. Genug geschwärmt, hier gehts zum neuen Livetracking.
Anpassbare Startseite
Des Öfteren kam der Wunsch auf, die Tageswertung für den eigenen Verein oder die Heimatregion ohne den Umweg über die Suche zu erreichen. Dies ist jetzt bequem über die konfigurierbare Startseite möglich.
Wenn du auch die aktuellen Flüge deiner Lieblingsregion, deines Vereins oder eines Flugplatzes direkt auf der Startseite haben möchtest, einfach einloggen und den Bereich auf der Startseite neben der Tageswertung über den Button "Anpassen" in deine individuellen Tageswertungen umwandeln. Zudem lässt sich die Tageswertung nun als Lesezeichen im Browser speichern, welches immer auf den aktuellen Tag verweißt.
Kartenvorschau
Die Flugkärtchen wurden überarbeitet. Neben besser lesbarer Schrift und mehr Platz für die tollen Bilder wurde eine Kartenvorschau des Fluges eingeführt. So lassen sich Flüge auf einen Blick lokalisieren, besonders nützlich im eigenen Flugbuch zur Wiedererkennung.
Inhalte
Georg Theisinger berichtet wöchentlich über der DMSt Bundesliga, die interessanten Artikel gibt es immer aktuell im WeGlide Magazin zum Nachlesen.
Die Jugend kommt nicht zu kurz, die neue Förderseite fasst die verfügbaren Programme und Teilnahmebedingungen bündig zusammen. Bis jetzt dabei: WeCoach und die #SteFlyChallenge.
Auf Instagram folgen knapp 2500 Interessierte den tollen geposteten Flugbildern und den Inhalten wie der letzten Fragerunde. Wir bedanken uns bei allen für den Support und wenn du uns noch nicht folgst, wird es höchste Zeit.

Magnificent flights in May, the last weekend brought a new record of reported flights, including 40 flights over 1000 km. But June also brought some great flight stories. The WeGlide team has been busy as well and is pleased to introduce WeGlide Live Tracking today, in addition to some already visible new features.
Live Tracking
Congratulate others on their personal record as soon as they land, or simply cheer along with your club mates during the day? We have missed that so far and that's why we built WeGlide Live.
Data from the Open Glider Network is visualized and supplemented by WeGlide with information such as take-off airfield and ground altitude.
For all flights the live scoring distance is continuously calculated. Together with the flight track and the barogram, this provides the same detailed information as for uploaded flights. Thanks to the real-time evaluation and the usual extensive search, the discovery of potentially exceptional flights is still possible in the air.
If you want, you can enter your glider in the WeGlide profile and allow interested observers to see your name and club in the tracking. In addition, the progress on the online declared task can be tracked.
In case you have already uploaded an igc-file containing the Flarm-ID of your aircraft, you can link your aircraft permanently - otherwise for a period of up to three days.
Clicking on a nearby airfield loads it into the navigation. To be able to follow the navigation decisions of the pilots, the live satellite image is added as a map option for the first few weeks as a little icing on the cake.
Of course you have full control over your data and whether you want to be displayed in the live tracking. Only aircraft from the OGN device database will appear if you have explicitly agreed to tracking there. We have described in our docs exactly what you need to do if you want to change these settings.
WeGlide Live is only possible because we were able to build on the previous work of others. The data of the OGN project is freely available to everyone and OGN has remarkable coverage around the world. To quote the OGN directly:

The basis of the live software is the OGN gateway from Tobias Bieniek, who also developed SkyLines. Thankfully, the source code is freely available. It collects and stores data from the OGN. We were able to add aspects such as route analysis, user interface, live connect and altitude data to this.
All of the features under the new "Live" menu item have incorporated feedback from the community, and as always, we're just as happy to hear your suggestions. Enough rambling, here's the new live tracking.
Configurable start page
Often the wish came up to reach the daily ranking for the own club or the home region without the detour over the search. This is now conveniently possible via the configurable start page.
If you also want to have the current flights of your favorite region, club or airfield directly on the start page, just log in and change the area on the start page next to the daily score into your individual daily scores via the button "Customize". In addition, you can now save the daily ranking as a bookmark in your browser which always refers to the current day.
Task declaration
This was a feature previoulsy only available to competitors in the German DMSt: You can now use online or logger declaration to declare tasks worldwide. So go ahead, plan a task, declare it online with a single click, and try to achieve it. We have already seen a lot of interesting declared flights like this one from Denis Flament.
Map preview
The flight cards have been revised. Besides better readable font and more space for the great pictures, a map preview of the flight was introduced. This allows you to locate flights at a glance, especially useful in your own flight log for recognition.
New content
The "Flight Club" podcast is now starting its 6th round after the extremely listenable episode with Frerk Frommholz and a short summer break. As usual, new episodes will be reported in the magazine or you can subscribe to Flight Club directly on Spotify / Apple Music.
On Instagram, almost 2500 interested people follow the great flight pictures on WeGlide and content like the last Q&A, we would like to thank everyone and if you are not a follower yet, it's high time.

Outlook
