Badges, Notifications and 2000 km in Europe

Der Frühling auf der Nordhalbkugel hat begonnen und viele Pilotinnen und Piloten konnten bereits ihre ersten Flüge im Jahr 2023 genießen.
Wir haben in den letzten Wochen intensiv daran gearbeitet, WeGlide für deinen perfekten Saisonstart vorzubereiten. Dabei reden wir nicht nur von den üblichen kleinen Verbesserungen. Nach langer Zeit der Ideenfindung und des Austauschs mit der Community ist nun endlich der Zeitpunkt gekommen, einige große Neuerungen präsentieren zu können.
Badges
Unser Sport ist so einzigartig, weil ihn jeder nach seinen eigenen Vorlieben ausführen kann. Ebenso einzigartig sind die WeGlide Badges. Ein Tool von dem wir hoffen, dass es die Welt des Segelfliegens auf eine neue Art bereichert.
WeGlide Badges sollen dich auf deiner Reise durch die Segelflugwelt begleiten, wohin auch immer sie dich führen mag. Schon als Flugschüler kannst du dir deine ersten Abzeichen verdienen, beispielsweise das Badge Winch Wizard, wenn es dir gelingt, im Windenstart eine Ausklinkhöhe von mehr als 600 Metern zu erreichen. Doch auch für erfahrene Streckenpiloten und Oldtimer-Liebhaber sind viele Badges zu holen.
Momentan gibt es rund 40 handgefertigte Abzeichen. Mit jedem Abzeichen verdienst du dir Punkte, und wenn du genügend gesammelt hast, steigst du in das nächste Level auf. Weitere Informationen zu den Badges findest du in unserem Magazine Artikel:

Notifications
Hast du WeGlide schon als App installiert und Push-Benachrichtigungen aktiviert?
Wenn du in Zukunft nie wieder einen Flug deiner Freunde verpassen willst, kannst du nun Benachrichtigungen in deinem Profil aktivieren. So hast du die Möglichkeit, eine Push-Nachricht auf dein Smartphone zu bekommen, sobald ein Freund einen Flug hochgeladen hat, du einen neuen Follower hast oder dein Flug kommentiert wurde. Dabei steht es dir völlig frei, welche Benachrichtigungen du in Zukunft erhalten möchtest.
Um die Benachrichtigungen aktivieren zu können, musst du die WeGlide-Web-App auf deinem Android- oder iPhone installieren. Keine Angst, das geht sehr schnell und einfach! Wie du die Web-App installierst und deine Benachrichtigungen verwaltest, kannst du hier nachlesen:

Wendepunkte
Es ist soweit, die individuellen Wendepunkte sind da. Mit ihnen kannst du nun, deinen Flug auf WeGlide mit den eigenen Wendepunkten planen, speichern und deklarieren - alles an einem Ort.
Du hast die Möglichkeit, deine lang gepflegte Wendepunktdatei als CUP-File hochzuladen. Natürlich besteht auch die Option, deine eigenen Wendepunkte direkt auf WeGlide zu erstellen. In den Sammlungen können die unterschiedlichen Wendepunktdateien verwaltet- und bei Bedarf öffentlich gemacht werden, um sie mit der Gemeinschaft zu teilen.

Um deine eigenen Wendepunkte hochladen zu können, benötigst du ein Premium-Abo. Falls du sie öffentlich machen möchtest, kannst du der gesamten Gemeinschaft eine Freude machen, da sie auch ohne Abon nutzbar sind.

Wie oft kommt es vor, dass man beim Durchstöbern faszinierender Flüge Kommentare sieht, die man einfach treffend findet? Ab sofort kannst du auf Kommentare anderer Pilotinnen und Piloten reagieren.
Bundesliga
Bald geht es wieder los - gestartet wird am 29. April und die letzte Runde findet am 19. und 20. August statt. Wir hoffen, dass es mindestens genauso spannend wird wie im vergangenen Jahr.
Für die DMSt-Bundesliga gibt es diese Saison eine besondere Neuerung, die in der Vergangenheit schon oft zur Diskussion stand: Für die fast 2000 Juniorinnen und Junioren aus Deutschland, die auf WeGlide aktiv sind, wird der DAeC mit der Junioren-Bundesliga nun eine eigene Wertung bieten. Die wichtigsten Fakten folgen im Überblick:
- Die Anzahl der teilnehmenden Vereine für die DMSt-Juniorinnen Bundesliga ist nicht begrenzt. Alle können mitmachen.
- Die Wertung erfolgt analog zu dem Punktesystem der 1.DMSt-Bundesliga. Es werden jedoch nur jeweils zwei Teilnehmende in der Strecken- und Geschwindigkeitswertung berücksichtigt.

Erste Flüge
Die Saison auf der Nordhalbkugel hat angefangen und wir kommen aus dem Staunen gar nicht mehr raus. Es hagelt 1000er! Baptiste Innocent schließt mit dem Sprung von Korsika nach Sardinien eine weitere Lücke des großen Mittelmeerdreiecks. Auf der Alpensüdseite wurden sämtliche 1000er ab Lienz und ein 1000 km Flug mit einer LS4 ab Calcinate del Pesce geflogen. Der Amerikaner Gordon Boettger macht erneut mit einem extrem schnellen Flug in der verschneiten Sierra Nevada auf sich aufmerksam.
Die Krone setzt diesem Spektakel Klaus Ohlmann auf, der kürzlich ein weiteres Stück Segelfluggeschichte geschrieben hat, wobei das erste Mal innerhalb Europas mehr als 2000 km geflogen wurden. Schaut euch diesen Flug an und lasst einen Like da, es ist wirklich atemberaubend!

Spring has begun in the northern hemisphere and many pilots have already enjoyed their first flights of 2023.
In the past few weeks, we have been working intensively to get WeGlide ready for your perfect season start. And we are not just talking about the usual bug fixes. After a long period of brainstorming and exchanging ideas with the community, we are finally at the point where we can present some major innovations.
Badges
Our sport is unique because everyone can practice it according to their own preferences. Equally unique are the WeGlide badges, a tool that we hope will enrich the world of gliding.
Some of us love flying vintage gliders, while others simply enjoy an afternoon outing alone or in a two-seater on one of the gliders in their club. And the next one is fascinated by the glider itself and wants to fly as many different types as possible through the air. And of course, there are also some among us who like to push their own limits, covering incredible distances and speeds.
WeGlide badges are designed to accompany you on your journey in the world of gliding, wherever it may take you. As a beginner, you can earn your first badges, such as the Winch Wizard badge, if you manage to achieve a release height of more than 600 meters during a winch launch. But there are also many badges up for grabs for experienced cross-country pilots and oldtimer lovers.
Currently, there are about 40 handcrafted badges. With each badge you earn, you will receive points, and once you have collected enough points, you will advance to the next level. You can find more information about the badges in our WeGlide magazine.

Notifications
If you never want to miss a flight from your friends in the future, you can now activate notifications in your profile. This way, you have the option to receive a push notification on your smartphone as soon as a friend uploads a flight, you get a new follower, or your flight is commented on. You are completely free to choose which notifications you want to receive in the future. Make your choice according to your needs.
In order to activate push notifications, you need to install the WeGlide web app on your Android or iPhone. Don't worry, it's quick and easy! You can learn how to install the web app and manage your notifications by reading this guide:

Custom Waypoints
The time has come, the individual waypoints are here! With them, it is now possible to plan, save and declare your flight on WeGlide with your own waypoints - all in one place.
You have the option to upload your long-maintained waypoint file as a CUP-file. Of course, there is also the option to create your own waypoints directly on WeGlide. In the collections, the different waypoint files can be managed and, if necessary, made public to share them with the community. Similarly, you have the option to browse the public databases of other pilots and download their waypoints.

To upload your own turnpoints, you need a premium subscription. Once you make them public, you can bring joy to the entire community, as they can also benefit from them without a subscription!

First flights
The season has started on the Northern Hemisphere and we can't stop marveling. It's raining 1000 km flights! Baptiste Innocent closes another gap of the great Mediterranean triangle with his jump from Corsica to Sardinia. On the south side of the Alps, a lot of 1000k were flown from Lienz, and a 1000 km flight with an LS4 was flown from Calcinate del Pesce. The American Gordon Boettger once again draws attention with an extremely fast flight in the snowy Sierra Nevada.
The crown of this spectacle goes to Klaus Ohlmann, who recently made another piece of gliding history by flying more than 2000 km for the first time within Europe. Check out this flight and leave a like, it's truly breathtaking!
